Fall Vehicle Maintenance Tips

Engine

Before winter arrives, it’s important to prepare your vehicle for the cold weather. Follow these fall vehicle maintenance tips to help take proper care of your vehicle.

Check your battery

The last thing you want is a dead battery on a snowy day. That’s why you should check the connections to make sure they are clear of dirt. If you see some corrosion, disconnect the connections and use a wire brush to clean them.

Replace your wipers

Usually, you should replace your windshield wipers every six to 12 months. They also need to be replaced if they leave behind streaks of water. You can typically clean the wiper blades with glass cleaner and a paper towel to prolong their life for a few extra weeks if necessary.

Inspect your tires

Stick a penny in the tread groove on your tire. When placing the penny headfirst, if you can still view the top of Lincoln’s head, then you need to invest in new tires. You may also want to consider purchasing winter tires for more traction on the snow.
